DMX began rapping in the late 1990s. He debuted his debut album The album It's Hot and Hell was Dark May 19, 1998. Among his other albums were... and there was x, the Great Depression Year of the Dog... and then there was x, the Great Depression Year of the Dog... The Redemption of the Beast Gran Champ, Flesh of Flesh Blood of Blood. He was nominated in 2001 for the Grammy Award for the Best Rap Album Category. The album titled...And Then there Was X. Apart from his rap endeavors he had also appeared in films such as Lords of the Street Belly Top Five Exit Wounds Never Die Alone The Bleeding Romeo Has to Die Backstage Beyond the Law Lockjaw Rise of the Kulev Serpent and Fast and Fierce Death Race.
